Spencer Creek Community Growers’ Market Third Annual Harvest Fair

Spencer Creek Community Growers Market 3rd Annual Harvest Fair
The Market celebrated it’s 3rd Annual Harvest Fair on October 6th last year. Among the items offered by our produce vendors were honey, fruit, eggs, plant starts and a wide selection of veggies including melons, corn, summer & winter squashes (including pumpkins), tomatoes big and small, onions, potatoes, carrots, lettuce & salad mixes, broccoli, cauliflower, beets, parsnips, leeks, garlic & herbs. We also had pasture raised beef & lamb while our craft vendors were offering pottery, handmade clothing woven from local alpaca and wool fiber, numerous items made from organic cotton & hemp, while food artisans were offering homemade organic & vegan dessert treats.

Cider pressing took place throughout the day and many fairgoers walked away with gallons of fresh juice! About 15 pounds of apples produces a gallon of juice.

Entertainment last year was provided by Late for Dinner, a talented and lively group of acoustic musicians. We also heard from a local trio playing old favorites on banjo, guitar and fiddle.

We also served a marvelous buffet lunch, including a medley of veggie dishes and salads prepared from garden-fresh produce and locally-grown chicken from Our Family Farm. Desserts included honey-walnut pie and wheat-free fresh apple/plum cobbler.

This year’s Harvest Fair, our 4th, is scheduled to take place on October 5th. Be sure and mark your calendar!
